Centro di origine nuragica, Sarule è situato ai piedi del monte Gonare, nel cuore della Barbagia di Ollolai e a 45 minuti dalle rinomate spiagge del golfo di Orosei.
È un centro principalmente agro-pastorale, ma è anche noto in un tutta la Sardegna per la lavorazione artigianale dei tappeti tipici sardi. A Sarule si è conservata la tradizione della tessitura, su telai verticali, di tappeti colorati stilizzati.
La fine bellezza di questi prodotti può essere apprezzata non solo all'interno del Museo della tessitura Eugenio Tavolara, ma anche nelle botteghe artigiane sparse per il paese.  I festeggiamenti in onore della Vergine si svolgono dal 5 all’8 settembre con la tipica corsa del palio equestre.

A nuragic centre, Sarule is situated at the foot of the “Monte Gonare”, in the heart of the the Barbagia of Ollolai and it is 45 minutes from the famous beaches of the Orosei Gulf. It is a mainly agro-pastoral center, but it is also known in the whole island for the craftsmanship of typical Sardinian carpets. Sarule has preserved the tradition of weaving stylized colourful rugs on vertical looms. The smart beauty of these products can be appreciated not only in the museum of Eugenio Tavolara’s weaving, but also in the workshops scattered throughout the village The festivities in honour of the Virgin take place from 5th to 8th September with the typical horse race.
